Club Captains Report

Hello to all. Hope we are all enjoying our golf and may the weather continue. Let's get started. Saturday sore (Ed’s note – something that results from too much golf I assume!!) the last round of the Bleakly Tray and it was the master Teddy Bear Danych who took out the two round comp with a fine total of 130 net. Well done Ted, good consistent golf. Next best was Tony “Batman” McDowall with 134 and 3rd was Richard the remmah (?) Hamel. Well done lads. We did find the correct Bleakly Tray Teddy…. it was under JRs (extensive collection of) spare clubs. The Shoot-Out is ticking along so that's good, don't forget to see the boss Ian Titter if you want get in on it. Well done to all on Saturday with some good scores again. The course is in good condition so well-done team, thanks for the efforts.

Subs are due, so can we please make arrangements / payments thanks.

  • Urenui has the Left-Handers coming up 10th March for those interested.

  • NP has a Craig Owen tournament on this Sunday, see Taranaki Golf website for details.

  • Please see the club website as there is some changes to the calendar to come thanks.

  • The next few weeks see the Stroke-play and Match-play Champs so handicaps are frozen from Thursday 7th, for those games only. If you wish to play in the Match-play you MUST have two out of the three Stroke-play rounds counting, as this is used for seeding the Match-play.

  • This week sees the Split Sixes comp., find out more on the day. See you there.

Sunday Pennants

Manukorihi 1 and 2 played at NP on Sunday and good weather was the order of the day. As for the results not so good for the number 1 team with the boys going down 8-1, yip even the cornerstone, JR, was ground down to dust and blown away in the summer breeze (or was it …...simply the thought of having to clean out old step-toes locker room ????). As for the A-team oops... sorry number 2 team, they had a good win 6.5 to 2.5. Paul Fairhurst was hard-done-by having to play against a man with double vision? And he reckons he had more than one eye on the win. Pauly Rauputu was smashing the ball long and straight and took out Simon Says in a good game. With Paul hitting it so far it made myself and Sausage keep up a hot pace and it turned our Sausage into a ….hot dog , with a good win and I snuck in with a win as well, not bad considering we gave away about 70 years in age difference to the young fellas. A good effort saw Shane the Muss rack up a win and Gary the Clown fort (good for fighting) back the demons from the night before to eke out a half. So well done lads, a well-deserved break, and back in a few weeks, so I will keep one eye on the rounds and we will take on NP to get into the semis at Mania (I’ve heard that they are a bit mad in Manaia!!).

Good golfing in the Stroke-play champs and please see the board for the game sheets and read up on the rules to be safe.

Thanks for your time Lofty

Club Captain.

2019 Mixed Veteran’s Golf Tournament

Dear Golfer

The 2019 Mixed Veteran’s Golf Tournament to be run by the Manukorihi Golf Club from Monday 22nd April 2019 through Friday 26th April 2019. If you are unable to open the attachments, try our website manukorihigc.com or the Veteran’s site on nzvga.co.nz where you will find the necessary pages. If you do not have a playing partner, please mark your entry form with PARTNER REQUIRED and we will endeavour to match you up with somebody having an index close to yours. Please do not assume that a simple email is enough to enter the tournament as this can cause confusion, so we would appreciate you following the instructions on the attached page. Be aware that the Thursday is ANZAC day, so play will be on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Please note the closing date for your entry, bearing in mind that the field fills quickly, and once enough paid entries have been received to make up the required sections a waiting list will be created in the order that the entries are received.

Regards

John Stuart

PRO – TIP

A Good Posture at the start, the “Address Position” definitely influences your backswing. As the backswing is the first part of the swing a Good Posture is therefore essential to playing good golf!!! Quite simply Chin Up – Bottom Out – Flex The Knees & “Let’s Go !”

Look at yourself in the mirror to check the front position, the look of standing “ Proud “ & the side view, weight on the heels, arms hanging loosely away from the body without stretching, relaxed. Work on having a GOOD POSTURE, it’s very IMPORTANT !!!

Good Luck & Good Golfing

Professional John Garner.
