2019 Boy's NZ Trip
This year’s tour was organised by JC, so it was back to his old stomping ground in in the metropolis of Turangi.
Day 1
After all the pickups the three vans met up and left from the Urenui pub early Friday after our team talk. On the way to Turangi we played at Waimarino, tee off at 11:30. The course was in great condition and so long as you stayed out of the short but thick rough you were in for a great round. Terry Butts managed all of the above and came in with a great score. After a feed of venison burgers we set off for Turangi.
Arriving late afternoon, we checked in to the great accommodation arranged by JC, after a couple or 10 pre dinner drinks, off to Burger King then pub to hang out with the locals! a great night was had by all... with Scally arm wrestling the local shearers and more!
Day 2
The Turangi course was also really well presented along with super fast greens! However, the sun did shine and the wind did blow and blow. Everyone came in exhausted after their round feeling like they had played 36 holes instead! Again Terry B smashed it!
Big night in the pub to watch South Africa take on England in the RWC where the South Africans took out the prize after a tactical romp over the English. JR had an expensive darts lesson with Bing and enough said about that the better, aye JR!
Day 3
Time for some solids, so an early start for breakfast for some, then on the road to Taumarunui a couple of hours down the road.
Terry had an 11 shot lead heading into the last day! ‘Game face’ on and no nerves just plenty of Lion Red to get in the right mind-set to start the round!
The weather gods turned it on and we were slowly roasted throughout the day top temperature around 26deg. Some great scores posted for the day with Peter Loppy topping the list and scoring 42 stabbies. Not enough though to wrestle the Green Jacket from Terry B well done Terry, a worthy champ.
The tour toys in top to bottom order went to:
Tony Pope (the Pigs Arse) lowest stabbies 81
Ian Titter (the snake) most 3 putts 21
And last but not least Peter Bingham (the Attitude baby) you guessed it for the uncontrolled outbursts during his rounds and a little bit of club throwing. Congratulate them when you see them!
Once again thanks to JC for a great effort in organising the trip, Robert B and Shane W for keeping the daily scores and the drivers Mike L, David B and Kerry E…
Bring on the next one, rumour has it, maybe Kinloch!

We dropped in to catch up with Kerry V in Mokau photos at the end.
